We
sincerely welcome you to share certain crucial issues of our Sikh Qaum, hoping that you
must be a Farsighted, Sensitive & Responsible Sikh, who is concerned about the over
all image and honor of the Sikhs.
A father of a Catholic
Church had stated after reading the entire Sikh history that, All the Sikhs will go
to hell for not projecting their blood soaked unparallel unique history in front of the
entire world. He further stated, We had just one Jesus Christ and we have
spread Christianity all over the world but Sikh history is full of great martyrs and yet
hardly any body knows about it. It is ironical, sad, tragic, unforgivable and
shameful!!!
If you are a farsighted,
sensitive and responsible Sikh, then you must read this letter, which is an outcry of a
fellow Sikh. You must be aware of the fact that the population of Sikhs is less the 2% of
the total population of India. You must be knowing that today we the Sikhs and Hindus
exist due to the great sacrifices of the Guru Sahiban and great Sikh martyrs, who
selflessly laid their lives down to protect the self respect of humanity and for the
principals of Sikhism. Those were the times when every Sikh had to give his blood to
safeguard the honor and existence of the Sikh Qaum ! But what did we do for them? They
created history with their flesh and blood but we could not even properly preserve and
rightly project that unique history of ours. Who is responsible for it? Our religious or
political leaders? May be, but let us not get in to the same age-old argument. The
question is that are we willing to do some thing about it on our own or we will just keep
discussing, arguing and blaming each other for our own misdeeds and incapability?
They sacrificed every
thing of theirs selflessly for a common cause and for us and now we need to do some thing
for them. I very strongly feel that at least we can pay them a humble tribute by
projecting their unmatchable sacrifices through the medium of Cinema in front of the
entire world in the right perspective. If you are one of those Sikhs, who genuinely want
to do some thing in this regard, but due to lack of time, initiative and organizational
backing, could not do any thing for the same till date, then get ready to become an
important part of a historical movement through cinematic means to project and preserve
the entire Sikh history in the form of visual images on the silver screen. You will become
a promotional tool to your great history just by being instrumental in its right kind of
projection through the modern electronic means like Cinema and Television, which are
considered to be the most powerful mediums of communication today. It can be a matter of
great pride and self-satisfaction to be of some use in the process of preserving and
projecting of ones own historical heritage, if one genuinely cares for it.
After discussions and
exchanging ideas with a lot of concerned Sikhs all over the world regarding the
above-mentioned mission, we have decided to form an organization by the name of Sikh
Films International, which will make historical films based on the actual Sikh
history and religion on regular basis. We have already made two such films; the first one
Khalsa was made on the occasion of the tercentenary celebrations and screened
in Punjab, U.K. U.S.A. and Canada in most of the prominent Gurudwaras. The second one is
A day at the Golden Temple which is going to be screened all over U.S.A.,
Canada, U.K. and Punjab from the month of July 2003 onwards. We have announced our 3rd
historical film Saaka-Sarhind and 4th film Prakash Sri Guru Granth
Sahib which are to be released in September-December 2004. The research and writing
work on our 5th film The Greatness of Sikhism is going on in Mumbai and it
will be completed by the end of 2005. We have plans to make films almost on each and every
aspect of Sikh religion and history in the coming years, if we could get some sought of
support from our own Sikh community on a regular basis because Sikh history can not be
fictionalized to commercialize it for generating big profits. And that is why no Punjabi
or any one else from the Bombay film industry is coming forward to do any kind of film
projects based on our history.
If you are in agreement
with the above-mentioned and feel like joining us in any way or form as per your
convenience, to support us in this on going historical mission of ours, then kindly e-mail
us at info@sikhfilms.com
and we will get back to you at the earliest. But if for any reason you are not in a
position to join us, in any way, then kindly send us your contacts, to enable us, to keep
you informed about our future historical projects and plans. It is extremely important for
all the Sikhs to get connected and united in the light of present day world scenario,
particularly because we are in minority. Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks.
