Conclusion: The Sikhs deserve maximum respect and honor in every possible way because their Gurus sacrificed, their lives and entire families besides uncountable great Sikh martyrs, who selflessly laid down their lives to protect the self-respect and dignity of our country from mighty and tyrant invaders for centuries. They must be given their due for their unlimited, unmatchable great sacrifices and incomparable contributions in almost every field in serving and maintaining the honor of our motherland. But it is the saddest example of ungratefulness that instead of giving the Sikhs their due and befitting respect, our own countrymen take pleasure, while making mockery of the Sikhs through such silly jokes. We have no appropriate words for such ignorant and ungrateful people, who try to have silly laughs at the expense of such unusual great contributors instead of saluting them in appreciation of their glorious historical achievements. Sikhs are martyrs, warriors, saviors, servers, helpers, forgivers and generous people, not the subjects of cheap frivolous jokes.

12 Baj Gaye Sardar Ji? (Is it 12 O’ Clock Sardar Ji) A Joke amongst ignorant

A Sikh gentle man was trying to catch a fast local train from a Mumbai railway station, but by the time he came near the train it started moving, the Sikh gentle man tried to get in to the fast moving train but since it was too packed, he could not get in and one of the passengers sitting inside the train, who was watching the Sikh gentleman, remarked very loudly, “Sardarji 12 baj gaye? All the others who were also watching the Sikh gentleman trying to get in to the train laughed at this remark of the fellow passenger but the Sikh gentleman just smiled in response to the remark and waved at the person, who had passed this remark. A lady, who wrote this incident, as a news item in a local newspaper of Mumbai, was also trying to catch the same train and she over heard the same remark and saw the reaction of the Sikh gentleman. As per her version she was surprised to notice such a pleasant and warm reaction of the Sikh gentleman to a very rude remark. So, while waiting for the next train, she wanted to find out the basic reason behind such pleasant response of the Sikh gentleman to a rude remark.

She approached the Sikh gentleman, who was also waiting for the next train and politely asked him after giving her introduction, “Why did you give such a pleasant reaction to the rude remark of that stranger? The Sikh gentleman replied, “Because he was thanking me”. She could not understand the meaning of this strange reply and requested him to explain it. The Sikh gentleman explained to her in detail that basically the man in the train who passed a remarked to get a laugh at the expense of the Sikhs was ignorant but even in his ignorance he was thanking me and our great historical Sikh warriors, who in small groups, used to attack the big and mighty armies of the tyrant invaders at 12 o clock at night, to liberate/save the abducted daughters and women of our country, because most of their soldiers used to be drowsy or fast asleep by that time. That man in the train did not know even a little bit about our ancestors and their countless unmatchable sacrifices to protect the self respect and dignity of our motherland and our fellow country men, otherwise he would not have passed this remark in such a derogatory fashion, rather he would have mentioned about the time 12 o clock as a mark of respect to us the descendents of those brave and great martyrs. But I responded in a pleasant way to him because I knew the actual fact behind the rude remark, so according to me even unknowingly he was remembering our bravery and conveying his regards to all of them, who used to endanger their lives to protect others and sacrifice selflessly, so that we all could raise our heads in today’s modern world with pride.

The lady was so moved and touched by the historical accounts provided to her by the Sikh gentleman that she thanked him for opening her eyes to such an important chapter from our history and decided to write a piece about this incident in the newspaper and that is how we came to know about it and now we are putting it on our site to share it with the whole world, so that more people can learn from it about this fact and pay more respect to the Sikhs, which they rightly deserve from the very beginning of their Sikh faith for the uncountable selfless sacrifices and uniqueness of their completely secular religion.
