An American Tribute to Sikhism
A lot of farsighted,
responsible and sensitive Sikhs from all over the world have been very much concerned
about the existence of Sikhism in todays ever-changing scenario. Most of them are
trying to inject the feeling of pride in the minds of the Sikh youth in every possible
way, to keep the identity of Sikhism intact because there has been a popular trend in the
younger generation of Sikhs to get their hair cut and beard shaved off to become a part of
the popular main stream cultures. But as the saying goes that every dark cloud has a
silver lining, hence there are a lot of young Sikhs, who are totally committed to keep the
unusual identity of Sikhism intact as long as they live. Besides them the most inspiring
and encouraging development is that a lot of Americans have embraced Sikhism and so many
others in various other countries are also embracing Sikhism. After a keen study of
various other religions they chose Sikhism since they found it to be the most universal
and just religion on earth. We had the opportunity to interact with some of them and here
are a few excerpts from the long intriguing conversation we had with them. They said that
they are proud to be a Sikh and all the other Sikhs should be proud of their religion
because it is the only universal religion. |
